Biology Paper 1 and Physics Paper 1 are both afternoon sittings

Most A-Level Science papers are morning sessions, but Biology Paper 1 on 4 June and Physics Paper 1 on 20 May are both afternoon sittings across all boards. Make sure these are clearly noted in your diary as arriving for a morning session would mean missing the paper.

Exam day essentials

  • Calculator approved for A-Level use. Check your school's guidance on permitted models
  • Two black pens, pencil and ruler
  • Your personalised exam timetable slip from school or college
  • Photo ID if required by your centre

A-Level results day is Thursday 13 August 2026. Schools and colleges typically open from 8am, though exact times vary. If you cannot attend in person, contact your school in advance to arrange how results will be sent to you.

AS Science dates 2026

AS Science qualifications are still offered by AQA, Edexcel and OCR but most schools in England no longer run AS courses following the 2017 decoupling from A-Level. If your school enters students for AS, the confirmed dates are below.
