These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Learntit website, www.learntit.co.uk, and your booking of tuition services with Learntit ("we", "us", "our"). By using our website, submitting an enquiry, or enrolling a student with us, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use our website or book tuition with us.
1. Introduction
Learntit is a tuition provider based in London, United Kingdom, offering 1-to-1 and small group tutoring in Maths, Science, English and Further Maths for KS3, GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level students. These Terms apply to parents, guardians and students booking or using our tuition services, alongside anyone browsing our website or resources.
2. Our services
We provide online 1-to-1 tuition and structured small-group programmes, delivered by tutors we work with. Our core focus is Maths and Science, and we also offer tuition in English and Further Maths. We also publish study resources on our website, including past papers, worksheets, revision notes and blog articles; some of these are freely available, while others may be paid or require a subscription, as indicated on our website at the time.
We aim to keep our website and the information on it accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that pricing, availability or content shown on the website is always current. Where anything on the website conflicts with what has been agreed with you directly, the terms agreed directly with you will apply.
3. Use of our website
You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- use our website in any way that could damage, disable or impair it;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our website or systems;
- copy, scrape, resell or redistribute our website content or resources in bulk without our permission;
- use our website to send unsolicited or unlawful communications.
4. Enquiries, trial lessons & enrolment
Enquiries made through our website do not constitute a booking. Tuition begins once a paid trial lesson (or, for group programmes, an equivalent introductory session) has taken place and both parties agree to continue, and the enrolment details requested by us have been completed.
Trial lessons are real lessons covering genuine content relevant to the student's subject, level and exam board, and are charged at the standard hourly rate for that level. There is no obligation to continue with regular tuition after a trial.
5. Fees & payment
Current hourly rates for each level are shown on our website and may be updated from time to time; the rate confirmed to you at the point of booking is the rate that applies to your tuition. 1-to-1 tuition is billed monthly on a rolling basis with no long-term contract. Group programmes are structured around a fixed cohort and may involve a longer commitment for the term or year, as explained on the relevant programme page and confirmed with you before you join.
Payment methods and billing dates are confirmed with you directly when you enrol. Payment is due in line with the schedule agreed at that time. If payment is not received when due, we may pause tuition until the outstanding balance is settled.
6. Cancellations & rescheduling
We understand that plans sometimes change, and we ask for as much notice as possible if a lesson needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.
- More than 24 hours' notice: the lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: the lesson remains chargeable at the full rate, as your tutor's time has already been reserved. At our discretion, we may still be able to offer a rescheduled lesson as a goodwill gesture.
If we need to cancel a lesson on our side (for example, tutor illness), we will let you know as soon as possible and arrange a replacement lesson at no extra cost.
7. Ending tuition
You may stop tuition at any time. As tuition is billed monthly, please let us know before the start of a new billing period wherever possible so we can adjust your invoice accordingly; you remain responsible for payment of any lessons already delivered.
We may end tuition or decline to continue working with you or a student, including with reasonable notice or, in cases of serious misconduct, non-payment or behaviour that puts a tutor or another student at risk, with immediate effect.
8. Our tutors
Learntit works with self-employed freelance tutors who are introduced to students on our behalf. Tutors are not employees of Learntit, and Learntit does not itself deliver tuition directly. We take reasonable care in selecting the tutors we work with, and our tutors are bound by their own agreement with us covering conduct, confidentiality and safeguarding.
9. Working with tutors directly
Where a tutor is introduced to you through Learntit, please arrange and pay for that tutor's lessons through Learntit rather than privately, for as long as you are a Learntit customer and for a reasonable period afterwards. This lets us continue to support the quality, safeguarding and administration of every lesson, and reflects the investment we make in finding and vetting our tutors.
10. Resources, past papers & exam boards
Past papers, mark schemes and specifications referenced on our website are published by the relevant exam boards (including AQA, Edexcel and OCR) for study and revision purposes. Learntit is an independent tuition provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to any exam board. While we take care to keep our resources accurate and up to date, they are provided for general study support and should not be relied on as a substitute for official exam board materials or guidance from a student's own school or college.
11. Intellectual property
Our website content, worksheets, revision notes and any other original materials we create remain the property of Learntit (or our licensors, where applicable). You may use them for personal study purposes, but you may not copy, redistribute, resell or publish them elsewhere without our written permission. Past papers and mark schemes remain the property of the relevant exam board.
12. Safeguarding & conduct
Many of our students are under 18. Lessons are delivered online, and we ask that a parent or guardian remains reasonably available during a younger student's lessons. Communication with tutors should take place through the channels agreed with Learntit. 13. Liability
We provide our tuition services and website with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for exam outcomes, grades or results, which depend on many factors beyond our control. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It forms part of these Terms.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example as our services or policies change. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continuing to use our website or tuition services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
